Talented K9 Dog Training
The Training That Just Feels Right
What We Do
We are here to help guide, coach, inspire, and empower you to reach your goals with your dog. Everyone has a dream when they first bring their dog home, sometimes that dream gets lost along the way. We are here to help you get your dream back on track or to keep it on track if you just got a new puppy.
Weather you just got a new puppy, adopted a rescue dog, or have an older dog that you're now wanting to get into training, we are here for you! We accept dogs of all ages, all breeds, and all sizes.
You and your dog will be coming to lessons together where I will be teaching you new fun games to play with your dog to build the skills they need to develop into the dog you want them to become. We've helped hundreds of people with their dogs over the years and look forward to helping you too!
We love working with people that really want to develop a stronger relationship with their dog and have some fun while doing it, while also developing a well behaved dog you enjoy spending time with. If this sounds like you, reach out today!
Amy Heath
Hello everyone! My name is Amy. I have been training dogs for as long as I can remember. I've always had a dog or two... or more by my side. I've always had a passion for learning all I can about them, especially when it comes to behavior and training. For every birthday and Christmas, I would ask for training videos, books, training equipment, and dog treats. I was and still am constantly learning as much as I can about dog training and staying up to date with training methods and techniques.
I've tested, tried, and experimented with all sorts of training methods and have found what I enjoy the most and what helps the most dogs in the best possible way. I've found an amazing way of training that gets so many spots the other methods all seem to miss. After having experienced this way of training and helping so many dogs with games based training, I just can't go back to any of the other ways.
If you choose to train with me, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I attended Starmark Academy in 2004 after I graduated high school to become a Professional Dog Trainer.
I opened my business in 2007 and named it Talented K9 Dog Training because I believe all dogs have the potential to be great!
Within the last few years I have taken Absolute Dog's Pro Dog Trainer course to skill myself up even more to better help the families I work with. I will continue taking courses and learning so you will always be getting up to date information when working with me.
Hershey
Hershey is our Chocolate Lab, born on the 4th of July in 2017. We've had him since he was a puppy and I raised him with a mixture of training techniques. I did a lot of clicker training with him when he was a puppy and when he was old enough I used 'Balanced Training' methods with him since that is what I was doing at the time. It really wasn't needed though since I did so much clicker work with him as a puppy. He's a truly great dog and is always by my side and eager to play games. However, he's had a couple of bad experiences with people when he was younger and that has stuck with him. He gets very worried when strange, tall men, are around. However, with games based training he is getting much better and gaining in confidence and optimism! We're still working on it but I am so happy with the improvements I've been seeing!
Blackjack
Blackjack is our mix breed dog. We believe he's either cattle dog X lab, or Kelpie X lab. He probably has more breeds than that in him though. We got him as an adult and have had him about 8 years. We believe he's around 9-10 years now since we're not sure how old he was when we got him. At the time I was still doing 'Balanced Training' so I trained him that way. I thought he was happy and a great dog back then because in the balanced community, that's what a calm, relaxed dog was supposed to look like. In all reality, he just shut down. Since finding games based training, I can see how much happier he is now and how much he's come out of his shut down shell. He is absolutely flourishing with games based training and he's such a joy to have around! He's full of personality and absolutely loves training now. Just look at that happy face <3 That alone says it all! We're currently re-training his recall so he can be reliable off leash with out the need of a remote collar which he hates and I don't blame him. That's why he's back on leash until he can be 100% trusted even when there are critters around which he loves to run off and hunt. Through games, he's already learned how to safely be around our chickens, ducks, and cat.
